Mac App Store: Desktop Game Changer

On Wednesday we got our first look at the brand new Macs that were shown off at Apple’s event. “Back to Mac” as Steve Jobs said, was going to be on the agenda and he took everyone by surprise when announcing that an App Store would be introduced to the desktop for PCs and laptops for the first time.

We have seen thousands of apps on our iPods, iPhone and iPads; now the circle is complete as the app store is going to be available on your Mac. Many have said that now, “this really changes everything” and they have a point. With the introduction of the app store this is effectively killing off traditional software-buying methods as this is a huge advance on how we use and manage our information and accessories on our PCs. Plenty more information on this story can be found by visiting PC Mag.

Microsoft should take a good look over their shoulder as Apple are revolutionizing technology in computers and if they are not careful they will get left behind. The software giants should start working on their reply to Apple’s Mac store right now if they want to remain the dominant force in computing. The store is open for business next year and when it does you have to assume it will be a resounding success. We are not completely sure if Apple will keep desktop and mobile apps separate or push them together. Would you be able to play your iPhone apps on your Mac? The idea sounds good.

What do you think about the introduction of the Mac app store? Is it changing the way we use our PCs? Leave us your thoughts in the comments.
