Cyber Monday 2010: Social Media Opportunities

With the Black Friday weekend fast approaching, Shop.org and NRF are adding the final touches to their popular opening to the online shopping season, “Cyber Monday.” To help start the spree on the Monday after Thanksgiving, Shop.org’s plans are to use social Networking sites such as Facebook to raise awareness.

Figures from last year showed that nearly 100 million customers spending in excess of $12 million, excited from Black Friday spending, craved the amazing deals provided from the Cyber Monday experience. Retailers also loved the potential to be involved in another sales flood.

The use of Twitter and Facebook sites will give customers access to special deals, giveaways and the chance to sign up for email alerts. At CyberMonday.com, getting a fresh new look will be helped by introducing Top Holiday Deals and products as well as the connection to social networking sites.

Facebook users will also get the chance to grab free giveaways starting on November 1, although once you have signed up you are limited to one retailer per day. With over 700 retailers already signed up, the places are disappearing fast so act now if you want to be in with a chance.

For those that have not heard of Cyber Monday, we can only suggest you get yourself ready via your social networking choice. Failing that check out CyberMonday.com for a full rundown of what to expect. Let us know if you picked up any good deals over the shoppers nightmare season.
