Elvis Costello Promotes New Album Using Social Media

Singer-songwriter Elvis Costello, became a prominent figure in the early days of punk and new wave. He has gone on to successfully sell millions of records and worked alongside some of the most famous musicians such as Sir Paul McCartney, Roy Orbison and Tony Bennett. But now, it seems he has a new up and coming album which with the help of live concert streaming and social-networking scavenger hunts promoting it, will pull in his avid fans.

In a bid to get promotional material out before the album’s release on November 2 in America, Costello will be pushing hard at every angle from October 25 to get as much publicity as possible. For British fans, they can expect to hear the new “National Ransom” album being fully streamed for one week on ColbertNation.com. Radhika at Mashable reported that, as well as this, British singer Costello will be collaborating with late night shows, radio stations and online livestreaming stores.

Costello and his band the Sugarcanes will appear in “The Greene Space” at NYC’s WNYC on November 1. From 8 pm ET, fans will be able to see the concert with the benefit of livestreaming and Ustream, who for the first time streamed the Zac Brown Band some four weeks ago. Costello will be using social networking sites such as Foursquare, Twitter and Facebook. Pairs of tickets will be given away through various scavenger hunts on all three sites.
