New MacBook Air Prototype: 13.3 not 11.6-Inch

Shots have been taken of what is said to be the inside of Apple‘s new MacBook Air. Although it was rumoured to be a different size compared to that of the current model, it looks as though Apple have kept it at 13.3-inches. Photos sourced by Engadget, show that the modified Air has been given more room for power cells but no space for a hard drive.

Keeping Apple’s uni-body design and build, the new MacBook seems to have dropped the flip down side ports. Obviously we have to keep in mind that this is just a base unit and could have more changes before we see it in the flesh.

From an initial study, Paul at Engadget reports that it looks as though we are looking at the Air from the bottom, the images show that the power will go on the right and Mini Display Port and SD card reader on the left, USB ports are on both sides.

It has also been reported that along with the modern uni-body style, the screen will match that of the current MacBook Air, and a large single mouse button will be included. Like the outgoing model, the latest version will a run Core 2 Duo SL9400 processor, which highlights the fact that these are pictures of an early prototype.

So for the time being all we can surmise from these images is that Apple will be producing another MacBook Air and a 13.3-incher, not the rumoured 11.6-inch. Hopefully we will be able to obtain more information soon. Are you an Air user? Will you be interested to see what new things Apple come up with? Let us know. To read more on this log onto Engadget.
