Skype latest update 5.0: New features

We recently gave you some information about the next update for Skype and some of the new features it may include such as video chat using Facebook and integration with Facebook Connect. Yesterday that update 5.0, was released and Skype’s latest bid to win more customers should make a lot of people happy.

Skype 5.0 has an enhanced user interface and also as we previously noted Facebook integration and video conferencing. The home page now delivers a feed of mood messages from contacts along with some tutorials to make all the various services clearer to use, according to Jasmine France over on cnet. The aim was also to make the interface simpler to navigate and that seems to have been delivered.

The new group video calling feature should be a huge hit and there’s an open beta version of it available. For now if you download Skype 5.0 you’ll get the chance to try it out at no charge, whereas later on users will have to pay for the facility. Viewing options on video chat now include a new variation whereby the image of the person speaking at any time is increased. Although we can’t imagine this on a family call for example, with lots of people no doubt talking at once, we can see it would be useful for business conferencing.

The speculated Facebook integration features a tab which will take you directly to your Facebook feed. This means that as well as being able to update your status you’ll also be able to begin a Skype call from a contact in Facebook. For more on this go to cnet.com. Have you downloaded Skype 5.0 yet? If so we’d like to know what you think of it so please feel free to send in your comments.

I have been using Skype for years, the quality just simply improves.I do have the new version and have noticed Huge Improvements
As far as being linked with FB ahhhhhhhh Man No
Facebook is An addictive waste of time at least for me
I Imagine I will have to Click on a Link Via Skype to get there
But still I guess it is Going to happen
The only good that i can see,is that the merger will give Google competition
    Which is a Good thing
