Samsung Announce Free Galaxy Tab Giveaway

While we have been patiently waiting for Samsung’s exciting new tablet, the electronics manufacturer has decided to give a select few a taster, so they can see how it’s new device could change their daily commute.

Samsung will be handing out the 7-inch Galaxy Tab to London commuters at five of the capitals stations. The Android device will be loaned for 48-hours to members of the public that have registered by email to galaxytab@tubetest.co.uk (you didn’t think that Samsung would give their new tablet out at random did you?)

The initiative is being called “Tube Test”, and according to Simon Stanford, Samsung’s UK and Ireland managing director, it allows Londoners to test the Galaxy Tab before they become available so that they gain feedback. He said in a report by Pocket-lint, “The portability of the Samsung Galaxy Tab is one of its key features – you can literally fit it in your pocket or your handbag, so it’s great for people who spend time commuting to and from work each day.”

For registered loaners the Galaxy Tab will be available Monday, Wednesday and Friday for 2 weeks from October 18. Samsung’s team members will be at, Liverpool Street, Balham, Highbury, Islington and Ealing Broadway stations.

As we reported a couple of weeks ago the release date for Samsung’s Galaxy Tab has been confirmed for November 1. Although network prices are yet to be confirmed, the contract free model will retail for around £600. This marketing move is a big step for Samsung, and if all goes to plan, it should cause a huge ripple in Apple‘s current domination of the tablet market.

Tell us if you will be putting your name down to loan a Galaxy Tab when the registration opens on October 15? How do you think the latest Android will change your journey to work? To read more on this log onto Pocket-lint
