Twisplays: News tickers from Twitter streams

For those of you who like to hear about new and inventive ideas we have an interesting one to tell you about today. A startup called Twisplays has come up with a clever idea that will enable companies to easily display Twitter streams in the form of a news ticker with an LED sign.

Social media sites such as Twitter are increasingly being used by both brands and retailers who use the sites to communicate with customers, promote their products and generally just advertise themselves. Those companies might be interested in having an LED sign on their premises’ displaying tweets from a Twitter account so that both staff and customers, can easily keep up-to-date with the odd glance, as to what’s going on.

According to Jennifer Van Grove over on Mashable, the signs are to cost $299 each for a 26 x 4 size and can be placed either on a desk or shelf or wall-mounted. The tweets are shown as a scrolling text and would be useful not only in stores, but in offices, newsrooms, conferences, or even for personal use though you’d have to be pretty Twitter-obsessed to do that.

Twisplays certainly sound like a great idea. The signs will be available in a few more weeks and the company’s website is still being established but they can be pre-ordered and for a limited time will be supplied with free shipping.
