Samsung Galaxy Tab: Controlling your home demo

There’s a lot of news at the moment regarding tablet devices. The Apple iPad has seen such success that it’s a wonder some of the other big competition didn’t get quicker off the mark with their own versions but in recent weeks they’ve definitely been playing catch-up and only recently we’ve heard news of an upcoming RIM BlackBerry tablet device as well as a new Dell 7-inch tablet.

The main device that’s grabbing all the headlines though has been the Samsung Galaxy Tab, hopefully to be released very shortly, which will be available on all four major wireless carriers in the U.S. We’ve already brought you news of a video and also a hands-on review on the Galaxy Tab but now an article over on Engadget by Thomas Ricker, sourced from bs2you, has alerted us to more news.

At IFA 2010 Samsung showed a demo which you can see here on bs2you (YouTube), of the Home Watcher remote control using its Samsung Galaxy Tab. It shows the home of the future whereby you can run your home with live widget-based controls for things such as TV, air conditioner, stove, dryer and refrigerator. The refrigerator will even be able to tell you with its grocery manager, exactly what you can cook-up with the ingredients you have available.

Although there’s no news yet on when all this will be possible Samsung certainly put its Galaxy Tab to good use. For more on this go to engadget.com. What do you think of the Home Watcher Demo, or indeed the Samsung Galaxy Tab? We’re always interested in what you have to say so feel free to send us our comments.
