Sony: Confirms “Fake” PS3 Controllers Can Ignite Or Explode

For fans of the PlayStation 3, advice from Sony has been announced, that consumers need to be on their guard, when buying PS3 “counterfeit” controllers. Stark warnings have been given that the controllers could ignite or even explode.

According to Don at Cnet, the counterfeit controllers are identical in appearance to the real Sony ones, and it seems that more controllers are being sold through other sources. Sony have said that, “quality, reliability, and safety of counterfeit products is uncertain”.

It is difficult to say at this moment in time, how many people may have consumed counterfeit PS3 controllers. Sony have said they could, “ignite or explode, resulting in injury or damage to the user, your PlayStation 3, or other property”. They went on to advise customers to buy controllers from Sony, for their own “peace of mind”.
