Netflix: Debuts in Canada for C$7.99 a month

Netflix has launched a streaming only rental service in Canada on a C$7.99 per month plan. Previously the service was only available in the US, but has now been expanded to their next door neighbors.

The internet based rental company has announced that no DVD or Blu-ray discs will be rented and the Canadians will only have the option to stream at the moment. That is not to say that Netflix won’t consider disk rental in the future. Reports from Richard Lawler at Engadget tell us that Netflix have opened up a Watch Instantly portal for Canadians.

Some of the platforms on which Netflix rentals can be viewed are PCs, Playstation 3s, Nintendo Wiis and the iOS family. Surprisingly some of the devices which cannot stream video at the moment are the X Box 360, Samsung TVs, and Blu-ray players from VIZIO or Insignia. These devices will not be compatible with Netflix until later on this year.
