MySpace: Audition For The Next “American Idol”

American Idol “wannabes” will now be able to audition in the comfort of their own homes via “MySpace”. In the past, people have had to audition on stage but now the online social networking site is now giving the opportunity for people to send in their audition videos.

According to Radhika Marya at Mashable, those interested in putting themselves forward, will have to perform a song from a pre-selected list. They are restricted to sending in one video lasting no longer than 40 seconds. The closing date for all videos will be on October 6.

MySpace web auditions will be viewed at in exactly the same way as if the person was on stage. Viewers will be able to share the videos and watch the highlights of the lucky few that got through, on American Idol’s MySpace page. The music contest is no stranger to online social networking sites. Back in 2007, fans of the show were given the chance to vote for their favorite contestants on Facebook.
