Live TV streaming tested by YouTube

We recently informed you about plans from YouTube who were having talks with movie studios in order to start a new service to stream movies. Today we’ve heard that YouTube is to begin testing a new streaming platform with a two-day trial today and tomorrow (Sept 13 and 14) that will give live TV.

The new platform will allow streaming of live video straight into YouTube channels so if you can imagine the service would parallel that of live TV, according to Stan Schroeder over on Mashable. You Tube has already given a taste of this with its recent coverage of IPL cricket matches from India and this seems to be the natural direction to take next.

Apparently YouTube has said there may be a few bumps to iron out so don’t expect everything to run smoothly during the trial but YouTube has already got four partners to provide content, Howcast, Next New Networks, Rocketboom and Young Hollywood. The trial begins at 8:00 a.m. PT.
