Facebook in film: “The Social Network”

We all know that the social networking site Facebook is a worldwide success and just to add on to that, a film is being made about it. “The Social Network”, tells the story of computer genius Harvard undergraduate Mark Zuckerberg and his overnight billion dollar creation, which he launched back in 2004. Little did Zuckerberg know that this idea would turn him into the youngest self made Billionaire in history and also the way he and his co founding class mates would shape social media for the future.

The catchphrase of the film is “You dont get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies”. This is due to the phenomenal success of Facebook but then also the personal and legal complications that occur as a result.

Zuckerberg is portrayed in the Film by Jesse Eisenberg, the young upcoming star from Zombieland and Adventureland. Also starring in the movie is none other than celebrity singer Justin Timberlake. The film hits cinemas in the U.S on October 1st and the 15th for the U.K. The full cast and details can be found on the IMDB.

It is unlikely that the movie will win “Film of the Year”, however it looks well worth a watch with plenty of upcoming talent starring and also how we can see behind the scenes and the birth of the giant social media site we all use today.
