Remembering 9/11: Twitter and September 11 Quotes

Today, September 11, we remember those we lost on that tragic day nine years ago in the attacks on America. With the aid of social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook we have been able to remember those by leaving tributes, comments and quotes. Sunny Chanel at Famecrawler reported that Twitter has today been inundated with messages including those from celebrities such as the Real Housewives, Jon Gosselin to President Barack Obama.

Nine years on for some people it is a stark reminder of what happened on that fateful day, when al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. Two of the planes were deliberately slammed into the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York City. Everyone on board the planes were killed instantly and thousands of innocent people within the towers died from the impact. Two hours after the attacks, the twin towers collapsed to the ground. Crews from the emergency services that went in to save people lost their lives and even now, we are still losing loved ones who are fighting for their country.

As well as the Twin Towers, we must remember those that died when a third plane hit the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia and the fourth plane crashed into a field into Pennsylvania killing everyone.

Quotes from Twitter today include: Melissa Joan Hart: “On this 9th anniversary of Sept 11, please remember the people we lost and reflect on the unity we felt in the aftermath!”.

Caroline Manzo
“Please take a moment to remember those who perished on 9/11/01 along with those who have made the ultimate..”

Simon van Kempen
