Facebook: U.S web users spend more time than on Google

It has now become official that Facebook has become the website that users spend the most time on in America. The social media site has overtaken search engine Google at the top of the list. On average in the U.S, according to reports from Mashable, web users spent 41.1 million minutes on Facebook which accounts for 9.9% of their entire months surf time.

In the same period people spent 39.8 million minutes on Google, which shows that Facebook has clearly overhauled them as the most used site. With the countless number of things to do on the social media site, people can find themselves glued to it for hours each day! Coming in at 3rd place is Yahoo which people spend 37.7 million minutes on which is an average of 9.1% of their monthly surfing time. Facebook had only overtaken Yahoo in July which makes this news even more impressive.

This new does not come as a big surprise as Facebook has become increasing stronger each year with more and more users signing up each day. The company announced in July that they now currently have over 500 million active users on their site. It is not clear which site globally has more minutes spent on it, but this recent stat should give Google a slight cause for concern.
