Google TV Set-Top Box: US Get Fall 2010 Release Date

We’ve been bringing you snippets of information about the upcoming Google TV set-top box for quite some time now, and we now have an update on its release date. Although there is no specific date, we now know that it will launch in the US in the fall of 2010.

According to a recent article at mashable.com by Christina Warren, Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt has recently announced the company’s plans to release the much-anticipated device later this year, which just happens to be around the time that the new Apple TV arrives.

However, the fall 2010 release date is unfortunately only for those who live in the United States. So people everywhere else in the world, have to wait until 2011, although we still don’t know when. It’s not just Apple that Google faces competition from either.

Google will also be facing competition from the likes of the upcoming Boxee Box, and the Roku streaming players. Not only will users be able to search the web with Google TV, but they will also be able to switch back and forth between TV, web video and other content from the remote.
