Stephanie Rice Apologizes for Homophobic Twitter Message
Australian swimmer Stephanie Rice – who is also an Olympic gold medalist – appears to have got herself into a spot of bother recently, after she posted a homophobic message on her Twitter page shortly after Australia’s ruby team beat South Africa, Sydney’s Daily Telegraph reported.
According to a recent article over at nbcsports.msnbc.com, 22-year old Rice took to the popular micro-blogging website on Saturday, and posted a message that read: “Suck on that f**gots.” This of course, has prompted people to respond to the message.

Former Australian rugby player Ian Roberts – who is in fact openly gay – responded by saying: “She is an idiot.” He then added that anyone who endorses her is an idiot as well. However, the Telegraph says that Rice has now removed the message, and has sent an apology.
“I made a comment on Twitter last night in the excitement of the moment,” rice said, adding that she didn’t mean for it to cause offense and apologized. Roberts has since responded to Stephanie’s apology however, by calling the comment “inexcusable.”
