American rapper and actor 50 Cent has recently announced that he is quitting the popular social networking website Twitter, in order to work on his new album “The Return of the Heartless Monster.” However, his fans will only have to go without his tweets for about a week.

According to a recent article over at mtv.com by Mawuse Ziegbe, 50 Cent – real name Curtis Jackson III – took to his Twitter page on Wednesday, and tweeted: “Ok ladies and [gentlemen] I’m writing my new album. I will not be on Twitter again till Sept 6.”

50 Cent, who recently had his Twitpic account blocked due to obscene messages, has been putting in a bit of work on new material for his next album. Swizz Beatz spoke to MTV News recently, and revealed that he has been in the studio with the boss of G-Unit.

The “Candy Shop” singer is a regular visitor to the popular micro-blogging site, and his tweets can literally be about anything. Sometimes he will just share his inner thoughts, while other times he will speak about other celebrities such as Kanye West, who has only recently joined Twitter.
