Apple’s iTV rumoured to get Netflix

Apple has a media event today, and rumours are spreading about what they could be announcing. Speculation includes a new iPod Touch, an iTunes music streaming service and now the possibility of Netflix on a new Apple TV, which is supposedly going to be called the iTV.

Christina Warren writes for Mashable with reports about a rumoured deal between Apple and Netflix. She says that since Netflix is available on the iPad and the iPhone, it makes sense that it would also be available for Apple’s new TV device.

If Netflix was to partner with Apple, it would make sense considering their previous moves. Their streaming service is already available on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and other set top boxes such as Roku as well as on some HDTV sets and Blu-ray players. Netflix’s strategy seems to be to get on any and every platform it can, so it can attract as many subscribers as possible, thus generating significant revenue.

From what I have heard from those across the pond, Netflix is a great service, so the more ways people can use the service, the better. What do you think about Netflix? Does this rumour get you interested in Apple TV? Let us know in the comments.
