Almost two weeks ago we were given Facebook Places, and were left wondering if users would start ditching Foursquare. A poll which has been conducted asked users which service they preferred has given some surprising results.
Ben Parr of Mashable is reporting that the website asked its readers what they preferred and Foursquare came out on top with 57.11% of the vote. Facebook places managed 18.86% of the vote, with 7.73% of voters saying it was a tie between the two. There were 16.31% of readers preferring a different location based service.

A lot of Mashable’s readers said that the two location based services could be used by a variety of people for different reasons. One commenter Anuj Ahooja said “Facebook is going for the people who want to connect every part of their Facebook experience to a location, while Foursquare is going for a games-based market.”
Some of the voters mentioned that while Foursquare was their preferred choice, with Facebook’s half a billion users it will be tough competition for its rivals.
Which service do you prefer?
