Motorola Droid Pro is Global Droid 2: Milestone 2

The Motorola Droid 2 (read review) is the predecessor to the original and best selling Droid handset, and has only been available for a week or so. The other two previous Droid handsets were the Incredible and X, both have not been on the market for that long – so you could imagine how shocked we were when we learned that the Pro was coming.

However, according to Chris Ziegler from Engadget, the Droid Pro is the global name for the Droid 2. If this were true, then this would have been the Milestone 2. We knew that Motorola had to come up with a different device to the Droid 2, as this is a CDMA version, the worldwide version needs to be GSM.

These are all just rumors so far, along with the fact that there could also be a white version. Currently the Droid 2 costs $200 on a two-year- contract on Verizon, you can be certain that this will cost a lot more in the UK or other European countries.

If this is in fact true, then we have to wonder what version of Android will be running on the Droid Pro, and what its release date will be? Do you think that the Droid 2 is actually the Pro?
