Viral Video: ‘The Majestic Plastic Bag’

Individual cities such as Oakland and San Francisco have already passed a ban against the use of plastic bags, and now it looks like California is on the brink of passing a statewide ban. The question is – will a viral video be able to help the cause in any way?

According to Ariel Schwartz at fastcompany.com, Heal the Bay – a 25-year old non-profit that is based in Santa Monica – has come up with a mockumentary called “The Majestic Plastic Bag,” which has been kindly narrated by Oscar-winning actor Jeremy Irons.

The point of the viral video is to highlight the importance of passing AB 1998. If it is passed, the AB 1998 would ban all single-use plastic bags from grocery stores and other retailers across California. It would also make California the first state to ban the use of plastic bags.

This video may not do anything at all to sway the opponents of the AB 1998, but at least it spreads its awareness and what the possible impact of passing the bill could be. You can watch “The Majestic Plastic Bag” viral video below this post.
