Chrome Web Store: What to expect from Google?

There seems to be no-end to what Google wants to do, now that they are a force to be reckoned with in the search engine and the mobile OS market. However, not content with standing still for too long, they also announced plans to launch the Chrome Web Store.

This new service will see Google offer HTML5 apps and will have a number of features like the Apple App Store. Google knows that when it comes to supplying apps, no one does it better than Apple, so it was inventible that some of the design features from iTunes would be integrated subtly into the Chrome Web Store.

Ben Parr from Mashable decided to dig a little deeper to learn what we can expect from Google and this new service. The search engine giant knows that it is fighting a war with two enemies – Apple and Facebook. Google knows that Apple iAds could start to affect profits and Facebook is the dominant force in social media – something that Google is desperate to conquer.

That is where Chrome Web Store comes in; it will make their web apps more popular and also play an important part for when Google TV takes off. Also, the new service will become a big player in gaming, which helps with the social media side of things – what better way to get people talking than gaming? He question is, will Google ever be able to defeat Facebook and Apple?
