Motorola Droid 2 R2D2 Edition: Expected price

Regardless of what you think about the prequel trilogy, the original three Star Wars movies were awesome, and they have shaped many people’s childhoods. With the revelation of the Motorola Droid 2, the R2-D2 version was also announced.

Stefan over on IntoMobile has a leaked image of the limited edition R2D2 Droid 2. In this case, these are the droids you are looking for! There is no official word on the price of this special edition, but the regular Droid 2 will cost $200 after a $100 mail in rebate with a 2 year contract. The image shows the back of the phone which is decorated with R2D2’s design.

This is a must buy for Star Wars fans who are nearing the end of their phone’s contract. There is also an R2D2 Droid teaser website which allows fans to sign up for e-mail alerts for information about pricing and availability. You can also follow the Twitter page for the phone @Droidlanding.

Probably what Motorola will do is charge extra for the limited edition phone, maybe add on another $10-$50 for the branding, but this won’t be a problem for Star Wars fanatics, who will have no problem paying the extra cash for the phone. What do you think about this special edition? Is it worth paying extra for the special edition? Let us know in the comments.
