Google’s Battle with Facebook: Buys Slide For Social Expertise

Search engine Google seem to be pulling out the stops in its recent announcement that its bought “Slide” to try and outdo competitors Facebook. Facebook alone, have just celebrated user numbers in the region of 500 million. In this recent news, Google are hoping that Slide will be able to give them some expertise knowledge in setting up new ways for people to communicate across several differing online platforms.

When Stuart Miles at Pocket-lint reported, Google have commented that this will be the way forward for them. They want to give users the full benefit of technology to re-connect them to their friends and family. Users will be pleased to learn that this recent purchase of Slide was not taken likely. Slide in the past have created plug-ins for Google’s services such as Gmail, Docs, Blogger, Picasa and YouTube as well as other social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Bebo.

In light of Google “Wave” now stopping, this recent news could not have come at a better time.
