Facebook Android App Update: Features include

Facebook is used by over 500 million people, and with the advent of smartphones, we got a whole new way to keep in touch with friends and family whilst on the move. Now Facebook has released an updated version of the Facebook app for Android which is free for everyone.

Jolie O’Dell writes on Mashable about the new app, saying that now the home screen shows messages, notifications and friend requests separately as well as a swipe-to-scroll slideshow of recent pictures uploaded by friends. Notifications are now in a slide up bar on the bottom of the screen and you no longer have to go to the mobile site to approve a friend request, view a video or respond to a message.

Facebook chat is still unavailable and you cannot rotate the home screen to landscape view, but overall it’s a better app than it was before. To get the update to the app, simply just search for Facebook in the Android Gallery and reinstall the official app.
