BlackBerry Storm 3 Release Date and OS 6: RIM Press Event
RIM has called a press event for next Tuesday, and invitations give a few clues to what might be unveiled, Rethink Wireless points out that the AT&T logo on the invitation is the first BIG giveaway.
The first BlackBerry OS 6.0 device – expected to be the BlackBerry Storm 3 – will likely see AT&T as the United States launch partner, and a release date somewhere in September is also expected. RIM needs a device that will help strengthen its market share, and a new software platform that can compete with the iPhone, and continues the strong enterprise email features.

Let’s hope Storm 3 and OS 6.0 does not just emulate the iPhone, but brings something extra to the Smartphone table. Rumors for Storm 3 include dual CDMA/HSPA support, a slide-out Qwerty keyboard, new UI with multitouch technology, Webkit browser, 3G mobile tethering, Wi-Fi 802.11n, and a 5-megapixel camera.
During the press event we will keep you updated as the news breaks, join us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news. What are your expectations from Tuesday’s event? Do you think RIM’s stock can bounce back this year?
UPDATE:
Many of you have pointed out a few errors in the claims made by Rethink Wireless, they said that the device is “expected to be the Storm 3″, but our readers feel that the BlackBerry slider will not be the Storm 3, and point to the 9800 slider instead.
