Samsung Android Tablet PC in Q3: Could it beat the iPad?

When Apple released the iPad, they completely dominated the tablet market overnight. When I think of tablet computers, the only product that comes to mind is the iPad. Now other companies are throwing their lot into the arena and are working on products which will compete with Apple for a slice of the tablet market pie.

Reuters is reporting that Samsung are making a tablet PC based off of the Android operating system which will have a 7 inch screen. Other companies such as LG, Nokia and HP are also working on Android tablets. Microsoft also said that they would be working on a tablet, but this would be a tablet based on Windows rather than Android.

This is all to try and take on Apple’s iPad which has sold over 3 million units since April. I personally don’t think that these other tablet manufacturers are going to do nearly as well as Apple has been doing. The reason for this is because Apple has the App store, and a fan base that has grown around their computers, their iPods and the iPhone.

Apple has built up a reputation for excellence and a fan base which these other companies don’t have. Consumers didn’t know they wanted a tablet, until Apple told them they did.

What do you think about tablet computers? Does Apple tell you what you want? Let us know in the comments.

Tablet PCs are not "new: to the market. They are in fact a quite old idea. What Apple has done is, as is there trade mark, remove the keyboard. What the IPad lacks, is another Apple trademark, compatibility. Although the idea is novel and yes, Apple fan boys will purchase Ipad over other tablet PCs, Businesses are going to purchase the tablets that are the most versatile and useful. I believe says will also reflect that the average consumer would like this as well. We shall just have to wait and see.
