YouTube: 15 Minutes of Fame Contest Details

For those of you who love to upload videos to YouTube but always seem to run out of time due to the 10-minute limit, we can now tell you that they have now increased the limit by 5 minutes. This means that you will now be able to upload 15 minute videos, and this has led YouTube to begin a 15 Minutes of Fame Contest.

There have been a number of videos on the social networking site that just seemed too short, but I fear that those videos that you wished you had never turned your computer on for will now be 5 minutes longer, this means that we will now waste more of out lives watching funny and often disturbing videos.

Before we talk about the contest I thought you would be interested in what Brenna Ehrlich from Mashable had to say about why YouTube has increased the limit to 15 minutes? The reason is because YouTube has increased copyright protection tools, so TV companies know that their shows will not be uploaded on the site in chunks.

On to the contest, “15 Minutes of Fame” has been set up so users can upload their new 15-minute movie and the best one will be featured on the YouTube homepage – remember that you have to upload the video before August 4th.
