Tinychat: Web-based chat rooms and 10,000 new users a day

You may have thought that web-based chat rooms was a thing of the past, but Tinychat – a simple audio, video, and text communication platform – has shown that users love to create web-based chat rooms.

We have excellent social networks like Facebook, and cool chat apps on your iPhone or Android device, but over 10,000 new users a day are joining Tinychat, and according to TechCrunch, this service is gaining “traction fast”.

Since February 2009 Tinychat has expanded with better features, and more users. Now they see their users giving over 500 million minutes a month to the full-blown chat system.

Founder Dan Blake explains to TechCrunch that the service is seeing page views grow 11% “week over week”, and the service has over 50 servers keeping it going 24/7. Another big difference with Tiny Chat and its competitors is moderation, Blake stressed that a moderation team works hard to keep offensive content away from their service.
