New Facebook Scams: Surveys and Shocking Video

A week does not go by when we have to warn you about a bunch of new Facebook scams, and this week is no different. The shocking thing is, you would have thought that with recent scams – users would have learned by now? Sadly they are still falling for the same old tricks.

The scams have not changed in how they work, to see the shocking video footage you will be asked to fill out a choice of surveys. We all know that these have been designed to get personal data from you, which the companies will then use against you at a later time.

Stan Schroeder from Mashable has located an insightful video put together by Graham Cluley from Sophos. The message that pops up on Facebook offers you the chance to see a video where a teacher is beating a boy – that in itself should be a warning not to watch. Once you click on it to view you will be asked to fill out one a choice of surveys.

If for some reason you do not want to take part in the survey, you will then be asked to fill out another. This scam is persistent and will not give up, and once you do give up, the link to the scam is left on your page for your friends to see.

Did you fall for this scam?
