UK Sales Triple: Google Android Phone

Google’s Android handset is becoming increasingly popular by the day and this is reflected by the increased volume in sales which has seen Google Android’s share of the mobile phone contract grow, from 3% in the first quarter of the year to more than 13% over the last 3 months. Statistics show that 1 in 10 contract phones sold in the UK have the Google Android operating system.

According to Claudine Beaumont at Telegraph.co.uk, consumers looking to purchase a new mobile handset on contract are now asking for the Android by name, and the beginning of this year saw the release of its own-brand Nexus One handset while the HTC Legend and HTC Desire are still proving to be a hit.

With phone rivals such as Samsung offering it’s new flagship device such as the Galaxy S boasting an Android system, 4in AMOLED touch-screen and 5 mega pixel camera, will this be giving the Google Android a run for its money!
