Social Networking: How would you change it?

I don’t think anyone will disagree with me when I say social networking is all the rage nowadays, and it appears to be coming at us at a million miles an hour. Just when we think we’ve conquered one social networking website, another one comes along.

An article over at alternet.org gives us an excerpt from Deanna Zandt’s new book, “Share This: How You Will Change the World with Social Networking.” I must admit, it is a rather interesting read and you can check out the full excerpt via the link provided.

In the book it says that while technology isn’t a magic bullet for solving all the world’s problems, it is certainly a spark to the fastest fuse to explode people’s notions of power that the world has seen in a thousand years. The book it says, aims to show how to light the fuse.

People are now using social technology as a way to find and connect with other people. When we connect and share our lives with other people, both in the physical and digital world, we create bonds of trust and empathy that leads us away from the apathy we’ve had for at least a century.
