We recently brought you a synopsis of the must-see movie about the rise of Facebook, “The Social Network,” due out on October 1, along with a trailer, see here. The film is also of course about Facebook’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, and it looks as though the film will be hugely popular with millions already interested in Facebook as a ready-made audience.
It certainly looks set to be an intriguing movie and the trailer has captured a lot of people’s imaginations. Now people are also becoming interested in the music used for “The Social Network” trailer which is a version of Radiohead’s “Creep.” It’s an amazing choir-driven version which seems to completely fit the mood of the trailer and its substance and an article by Todd Gilchrist over on Cinematical, tells us more about it.

The version of “Creep” used in the trailer is by Scala and Kolacny Brothers and transforms the grunge anthem into an almost-classical and poetical sound, somehow entirely in keeping with the movie trailer. The article then goes on to look at other versions of well-known songs, used in movie trailers such as “Superstar” by Sonic Youth, used in “Haute Tension.” There are many others too, another being “It’s a Wonderful Life” by Sparklehorse, used in “Dawn of the Dead.”
If you want to read and hear more then take a look at the article on cinematical.com. You may also be interested in our article about the real Mark Zuckerberg, as opposed to the film version, who is actually taking part in an interview today with Diane Sawyer where he’ll no doubt be facing some probing questions. Are there other great examples of well-known songs that you can think of, that were used to good effect in movie trailers? We’d be interested to hear any suggestions you may have, via the comments.
