Twitter: Battleground for Bollywood Celebrities: Four battles

Twitter, being one of the largest online social networking sites, has had more than it’s fairshare of celebrity tantrums and battles. The latest story to use Twitter has seen four Bollywood names locked in individual battles.

According to THE ECONOMIC TIMES, last month saw filmmakers’ Ram Gopal Varma and Karan Johar battling it out, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and Javed Akhtar-Shabana Azmi, film critic Rajeev Masand and Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan at loggerheads and Shobha De’s online barbs infuriating Sonam Kapoor and Punit Malhotra.

Filmmakers Varma and Johar have been in a recent battle concerning names, a recent comment from Johar stated that Karan’s “My Name Is Khan and “Kurbaan”. This was hit back with tweets from Varma as well as using his new comedy `RGV Ki Aag’ as a way of scoring points. He even mocked Karan’s latest production venture `I Hate Luv Storys’ directed by Punit Malhotra. After this outburst, tweets were seen from well known author and columnist Shobhaa De saying that “this movie was dumb” and that Punit ought to be “spanked in public” for making such a film.

It appears that filmaker Mahesh Bhatt and lyricist Javed Akhtar and his actress wife Shabana Azmi have been in various heated debates over profit-sharing in Hindi films on Twitter.
