Foursquare and SCVNGR: Differences explained

Users will be pleased to learn that as well as the current geolocation apps presently on the market like Foursquare, Gowalla, and Twitter there is a new app named SCVNGR. Unlike it’s competitors, SCVNGR has something more unique to offer it’s users. It has the option of `Game Play’, and is available free on the iPhone and Android devices.

According to geeksugar, along with Foursquare, users will be able to check in to locations, SCVNGR on the other hand will give the extra benefit of performing challenges which in turn will earn points in preloaded scavenger hunts (Treks). It would appear to be similar to taking a photo of a certain place, or scanning a QR code. Users will now be able to check into their desired location and have the facility to discover all kinds of things in their city. Along with this, users will be able to build up their own scavenger hunts in their town.

Foursquare is a particularly good app to check in to a location and earn points, but it also lets your friends know where you are. By checking into a location time and time again, will earn you the title of `Mayor’. As we recently reported Foursquare has its own unique rewards to users in the form of discounts and freebies from Starbucks, Whole Foods and Sports Authority.
