Social media networking site YouTube have seen pop stars Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga battling it out to see who will have the highest number of users watching their music videos. For some time now, users have logged into YouTube as a way of watching their favourite music artists, keeping up to date with recent news around the world, and so on.
According to Brenna Ehrlich at Mashable, Thursday saw YouTube had tweeted that Bieber had beat Gaga in the running for the most watched video, in time this changed when Gaga leapt back to the number one place. Recent rankings has shown that Bieber is presently winning with an incredible 245,746,720 views on his video “Baby ft. Ludacris”, compared to Lady Gaga 245,570,952 views of “Bad Romance”.
Lady Gaga and Bieber have successfully topped the charts on all sides of the Atlantic. Gaga’s singles “Just Dance” and “Poker Face,” have become international number one songs, by May of this year, she had sold 15 million albums and 40 million singles worldwide. In 2009, Bieber released his debut single “One Time” which fell within the top 30 in over 10 countries. Towards the end of 2009, his second single “My World” went platinum in the U.S. This year has seen Bieber’s “My World 2.0 reach number one along with “Baby”.
