Windows 7 Slate Release Imminent: Not HP

Earlier this year Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer told us that his company and HP were working together on the Windows 7 Slate device to compete with the Apple iPad. However, several months later Ballmer said this device would not be developed. It seems than Ballmer has been playing games, as he announced that the tablet device is imminent.

The news that the Windows 7 Slate will be released soon was a shock, and even more shocking was the fact that HP will not be involved. However, they have committed to a number of other PC makers – such as ASUS, Dell, Samsung and many more.

Paul McDougall from InformationWeek believes that the reason why Hewlett-Packard was not mentioned was because the company is now working on their own webOS version after buying Palm a few months back.
