South California Earthquake: L.A. Celebs Hit Twitter

You will all have heard by now of the 5.4 magnitude earthquake that hit southern California yesterday and if there’s one thing guaranteed to get a reaction out of people, it’s an earthquake. Also of course southern California is full of famous actors, writers, performers and TV presenters and the earthquake brought the celebrities out in force on Twitter.

An article over on Mashable says that celebs such as Alyssa Milano, Jordin Sparks, Khloe Kardashian and even legendary TV host and interviewer Larry King, to name a few, all felt the urge to communicate to their loyal followers on Twitter just after the quake. In times gone by people maybe would have phoned friends or visited but now it seems a lot of people’s first idea is to get tweeting.

Larry King was straight on it asking if anyone else had felt the earthquake while Jordin Sparks was a bit more emotional, saying “OMG. Earthquake!!” and adding she felt weird and nauseous. Meanwhile Alyssa Milano tweeted that earthquakes made her feel hungry while Khloe Kardashian was in New York but tweeted to ask her west coasters if they were ok.

It is I suppose a natural human instinct in times of panic or bewilderment to reach out to other people, or of course if you’re not worried at all, to simply gossip about it. There’s no doubting that Twitter and other forms of social networking are fast becoming the medium of choice to get the message out there. For more on this go to mashable.com. What would be the first thing you would do after an earthquake? We’d be interested to hear your comments on this.
