As everybody knows yesterday was 4th of July and in the U.S, that’s a very special day, Independence Day. It means festivities, traditions, parades, parties, barbecues, and so much more, but probably the thing that most Americans think of when they think of the fourth of July is fireworks.

The biggest event last night was the annual Macy’s fireworks display in New York, a real extravaganza which just seems to get better every year. If you enjoyed a display but want to relive the moment, or if you didn’t get a chance to see any fireworks then you’ll enjoy some pictures in an article by Stephanie Marcus over on Mashable.

There are twenty truly spectacular images of fireworks displays from the past, from all across America including New York, Washington, Miami, Chicago, Seattle, and many more on Flickr. You may even have attended some of the displays shown.
