Confirmed: Facebook Location-Based Features

It has been confirmed in the last 2 days from co-founder Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, that they will be launching the location-based features in the near future. At a local Facebook Developer Garage event, Zuckerberg announced to attendees, that the application was in progress, and Facebook hoped to be offering it soon.

According to Jolie O’Dell at Forbes.com, the New York Times in March, reported that location-based features were to be launched in April. It appears that Advertising Age had a different take on this suggesting that it would not be available on Facebook until June.

Users had the expectation that at the developer conference f8 in April, an announcement would be made regarding the major location-based features, instead Mark Zuckerberg made reference to the Open Graph API. It was hoped that at the end of May, Facebook would be able to set out new privacy interface changes, a problem that has already been in the media. In view of the location-based features, users now hope that staff at Facebook, will use this time productively in developing, designing and debugging the website and mobile interfaces.
