iPhone 4 Popularity: Pre-order Delay

We all knew that the new Apple iPhone 4 was going to be very popular when it was announced, but it now appears that AT&T has been unable to keep up with the demand of Apple’s latest smartPhone and have now reportedly halted sales on the new handset.

According to Paul McDougall at informationweek.com, AT&T posted a message on their website early on Wednesday, informing consumers that: “Pre-orders for iPhone temporarily suspended.” And there didn’t appear to be any word as to when sales might resume.

AT&T definitely isn’t alone when it comes to running short of the iPhone either. Even Apple itself has apparently moved back the date on which consumers who order can expect to receive one. Instead of June 24th, the date has now been put back to July 2nd.

However, while the delays have left many upset and frustrated, it’s a sign that the iPhone – which features a higher screen resolution, a front-facing camera and a longer lasting battery – may well be another huge hit for its manufacturer Apple.
