Apple and Google Social Media Applications: Percentage of Users

When it comes to the percentage of users who access social media apps via their mobile devices, it appears that Google and Apple are currently neck and neck – with Google only showing the very slightest of leads – according to recently gathered data from comScore.

According to Jolie O’Dell at mashable.com, using and enjoying social media websites from a mobile device has become increasingly common and increasingly important to users these days. And we all look forward to new and better ways to access social networking while on the go.

The stats over at comScore show that 64.9 percent of Android OS smartphone users access social networking sites – such as Twitter and Facebook – from their mobile devices. This number falls very slightly to 64.3% for Apple iPhone users: a nearly negligible difference.

Google and Apple are followed closely behind by RIM, whose Blackberry users are as likely to access social media services as not. Symbian, Palm and Windows Mobile phones finish off the data set, with each of these user groups showing numbers between 36 and 40 percent.
