E3 2010: Sony PS3 price drop and new model rumors

As some of you may know, the E3 2010 – Electronic Entertainment Expo – is taking place in Los Angeles this week and as you can very well imagine, there has been plenty of speculation and rumors regarding what’s going down at this year’s event.

According to an article by Claudine Beaumont at telegraph.co.uk, Mark Howsen – sales director for Sony Computer Entertainment – has spoken out recently, and ruled out the possibility of Sony dropping the price for its PlayStation 3 console.

There have been rumors that Sony will be introducing a new 500GB model of the PS3 console at this year’s E3 video games expo. Sony is also expected to give us more information about its motion-sensing game control system, Move during the expo.

While people have been speculating about a possible price drop, Howsen told gaming website MCV that there had been no internal discussions about lowering the price. He also said that a change to the PS3 pricing on Sony’s US website had been an error.

This new PS3 500GB model is expected to be released with a wand-like controller, as well as the Move camera and an 802.11n wireless network adapter that will provide faster Internet connectivity. What do you think about the new PS3 model?
