Lance Armstrong Crash: Photos From Twitter

In the Tour of California 2010 yesterday it was up-and-coming Peter Sagan who won Stage 5 in 4h 52m and 28s, but for Lance Armstrong the day went from bad to worse. He had already had to fend off allegations about doping, made by the disgraced Floyd Landis who had finally confessed to doping himself, but then crashed out of the event after only 5 miles of the stage.

Levi Leipheimer was also involved in the crash but managed to continue but for Armstrong the race was over. Although Armstrong did not suffer any fractures, he did have a cut under his eye and a severely bruised elbow, according to Will Reisman on sfexaminer.com.

Armstrong went on to say, “It was a shame to have to abandon early and not be able to help Levi to another victory. I tried to give it a go but my eye was swollen so I couldn’t see properly and the pain in the elbow prevented me from holding the bars for the remainder of the stage.” His Twitter page said how disappointed he was not to be able to continue.

There was also a link on Twitter to a photograph, which showed the laceration underneath Armstrong’s eye…not a pretty picture I’m sure he wouldn’t mind me saying. The caption beneath read, “Just when I thought I couldn’t get any uglier.” Well all we can say to that is that he may have some injuries but at least his sense of humour remains intact. Why not let us know what you think.
