Microsoft’s New Hotmail Features: Keeping Ahead

Hotmail is certainly re-inventing itself with a whole new range of features to keep up its competitiveness with other services, such as Gmail whose integration with Google services has made it the fastest growing webmail.

An article on mashable.com by Stan Schroeder, looks into the new array of features offered on hotmail which more or less gives it a complete overhaul, to give us an idea of what’s on offer. Just a few of the additions are Hotmail Highlights whereby a quick glance at your inbox will give you an overview of what’s happening, organizing incoming items by sources such as Facebook, Twitter or e-mail.

There is also a Sweep function, a kind of filtering system for e-mail and Office Web Apps are integrated giving the user the ability to edit documents from their inbox. There’s even the facility to watch a clip from YouTube if it’s sent to you, directly in your inbox. Just a few of the other additions are multiple e-mail accounts, full-session SSL and enhanced mail protection.

When the new service becomes available this summer it should certainly keep Hotmail among the main contenders on the market. For full article go to mashable.com. What do you think of the sound of the new features? Is there anything else you would like to have seen added? Why not let us know.
