Twitter Business Center: Beta Testing Starts

Twitter have confirmed that beta testing of their new business features, commonly dubbed the “Twitter Business Center” has now begun for “a handful of accounts” which will gradually build to more accounts. An excellent new feature will be that business accounts will now be able to receive direct messages even from accounts who they do not follow.

An article on mashable.com has some screenshots and exclusive information from social media strategist Dave Peck and says that the Twitter Team have sent out invitations to a small number of accounts asking if they would like to test the “Twitter Toolkit.” If your company get one of the invitations once you click the link you will have to activate the business features by updating your business information details.

After the account is verified, which has only previously happened for individual accounts, there will be four available tabs, Overview, Business Info, Verification and Contributors. The Verification tab is where you can enable your account to receive direct messages from customers without having to follow them back, while the Contributors tab will allow multiple users on one business account to tweet.

It seems that the “Twitter Business Center” could certainly be a useful addition for businesses but as it’s in the testing stage there are no details yet of what the cost may be. What do you think of the new tools so far, and do you think your business could benefit? Why not let us know.
