Apple iPad 3G Sales: First Weekend

The Apple iPad 3G is finally available and so now our thoughts turn to how well it sold in its first few days. First figures out suggest the sales are on a par with the original iPad released several weeks ago.

An article on mashable.com, sourced from Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, tells us that around 300,000 iPad 3G’s were sold over the launch weekend. From what the article tells us the iPad 3GS is now pretty much sold out.

Of the 50 stores surveyed only 1 store did not sell all of its stock of iPad 3G’s by Sunday. Predictions for sales now stand at 4.3 million iPads overall during 2010 with over 1 million already sold. It seems pretty certain that we’ll hear how accurate initial sales figures of iPads were at WWDC from June 7 to June 11.
