When it comes to Geolocation social network services the two at the top of the food chain are Foursquare and Gowalla. These two giants have been exchanging punches for some time now, and it recently came to a head at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) conference.
These two mobile apps squared up to each other to show their geolocation dominance. As with all wars, there has to be a winner, but who was it? According to Ben Parr from Mashable, Foursquare had a great show at SXSW and some recent analytics courtesy of Viralheat offered some interesting data to study.
Looking at the infographic provided by Viralheat, they were able to sort through all the social chatter from Foursquare and Gowalla from March 11 to April, one day before the start of the event.
The peak date was on April 3 and it was Foursquare that got most of the attention. More details on this data can be found from the Mashable link above. We have to note that we were not surprised that Foursquare got the lion’s share of the chatter.
