1.5 Million Facebook IDs For Sale: Should We Be Worried?

Facebook users should have heard by now that a hacker named Kirllos has managed to obtain 1.5 million Facebook IDs and wishes to sell them. He has a great deal going on these accounts, 100 IDs for users with less than 10 friends will cost $25 or $45 per 1000 for those with 10 or more friends.

According to Jolie O’Dell from Mashable, Kirllos has stolen the accounts of one in every 300 Facebook users, so how worried should we be? The hacker is trying to sell login credentials for the social media accounts – it is not known if this IDs obtained are genuine or not.

If these IDs are genuine then Facebook users run the risk of having their identities stolen. This could just be the start of the hassle; users could become the target of even more scams – this isn’t the first time and will not be the last time that something like this has happened.

Kirllos is not new to this whole hacking scam; he has even taken an interest in iPhone apps in the past. Facebook has not responded to the demands yet, but the first thing that all users should do is change their passwords – something that should be done on a regular basis.
